Kigali (0172)

We arrived safely in Kigali, capital city of Rwanda. It is odd and disturbing to be in the country where one of the worst genocide took place in 1994.
There are dozens of UN agencies and other relief organizations. The are easily recognizable because they drive the big white SUVs.
In Kigali we had lunch in a Restaurant with view on the city The pic was taken there.
For us Kigali is also the place where we have to decide our next route. The obvious next objective is Burundi, but we are not sure if it is safe or not. Civil war and rebels from DR Congo have been spilling into the country. So we checked, double checked and triple checked. All information we received is positive. The security situation is good, though we were strictly adviced against driving after the sunset. We decided to drive close to the border, spend the night there and then cross into Burundi the next morning.
